The Source in Florida Include:
Group Therapy
Group therapy is an essential part of your recovery journey since it allows you to experienced meaningful discussions that will be instrumental to your long-term success. By being around your peers and sharing your common challenges and solutions, you will learn a lot. More importantly, you will learn that you are not alone.
Group therapy sessions also help to break down the barriers and the walls you may have erected as a result of your addiction, or during your periods of past trauma. Breaking down those walls and barriers will be instrumental to your recovery, and group therapy can help make that happen. Group therapy also helps our counselors better understand the needs of their clients, allowing them to identify and focus on individual challenges.
Individual Addiction Therapy
When clients arrive at the Source, they will be introduced to their individual addiction counselors, someone who will work with them on a one on one basis in private sessions. Since so many addictions are the result of undiagnosed traumas and underlying mental health challenges, this one on one counseling is an essential part of any successful recovery. By uncovering those hidden challenges, we allow our clients to heal from the inside out, assisting their recoveries and helping them build the life skills they will need to build a more successful future.
In order to end the cycle of drug and alcohol dependency, you need to explore why you are choosing to numb yourself with alcohol or drugs. One on one sessions provide clients with a safe space to explore the complex roots of their addictions. During the processes, our clients will learn how to heal themselves, resolving the traumas that have held them back and fed their dependencies. The ultimate goal of our recovery is to heal those past pains and traumas. Once that healing is in place, our clients feel free to lead more successful lives.
Twelve Step Therapies
The 12-step treatment model forms the foundation of the best-known recovery groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and others. By providing a type of continuous group therapy, 12-step meetings allow clients to focus on:
- Accepting the fact that addiction is a disease
- Surrendering themselves to a higher power
- Forming new relationships with sober individuals – and those who are committed to getting sober
- Sponsorship – the act of one addict helping another
We encourage the use of 12-step programs, and we encourage our clients to attend meetings within their communities. We also encourage our clients to read the literature, and fully participate in the 12-step process.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
EMDR therapy is one of the most interesting types of mental health therapy in the field of addiction treatment. This type of therapy has grown in popularity in recent years, and it has proven particularly effective in treating the impacts of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Since PTSD is often a major cause of addiction and substance abuse, treating it can prove invaluable to helping addicts recover.
PTSD is often the result of things like physical assault, childhood trauma, abuse, rape, or even military service. No matter what the root cause, EMDR therapy has shown great promise in healing the worse problems associated with PTSD.
Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)
Rapid resolution therapy is another method of healing trauma and trauma-related issues. It has proven especially effective at treating those suffering from addiction. By helping individuals overcome the impact of trauma in their lives in a quick manner, RRT lives up to its name. RRT is used to treat the effects of past trauma, and it can also be used to promote emotional healing at the core of successful addiction recovery. Since the RRT process can take as little as one to three sessions to complete, it’s a good choice for those who want to get their lives back on track quickly.
Brain Mapping Therapy
Brain mapping sessions scan the brain through the use of a non-invasive recording, one that focuses on EEG brain waves. This painless procedure takes about half an hour to complete, and it can be a powerful ally in the fight against drug addiction and alcohol abuse.
After years of medical and psychological research, scientists have created a database, allowing doctors to compare your brain scans to those of the general population. Those comparisons allow experts to diagnose over-activity and under-activity in particular parts of the brain, making diagnosis easier and treatment more effective.
Brain mapping technology has already been used in the treatment of attention deficit disorder, depression, problems with emotional processing, and a number of other behavioral health issues. We are proud to include this leading-edge treatment in our list of options, giving our clients another way to heal. Our brain mapping therapy is designed to complement and work with other forms of treatment, including:
- Massage therapy
- Chiropractic care
- Mindfulness and meditation
- Yoga
- Acupuncture
- Art and music therapy
- Equine therapy
