What is Rapid Resolution Therapy?
Advancements in drug and alcohol addiction treatment have revolutionized how addiction is treated. Addressing the root causes of addiction provides greater success in recovery and ultimately decreases the risk of relapse. Root causes of addiction may be different for everyone, but often it can be the effects of trauma or PTSD. Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) has been shown to quickly, and effectively resolve the symptoms associated with PTSD and trauma by using multi-level communication and innovative tools. Patients work with a licensed therapist to identify the root cause of addiction so healing can begin. The therapist will guide you through hypnosis in order to address the identified root cause of addiction. Negative thought patterns and behaviors will also be identified and addressed using RRT. This is a crucial aspect of treatment because often addiction is fueled by the desire to silence these negative thoughts. RRT has the ability to remove the triggers that are associated with the trauma you have experienced. Once you free your mind of these painful emotions, you can target the behavioral aspect of addiction.
What Can RRT Treat?
Trauma survivors often operate in a “fight or flight” state because of the way trauma changes how our brains respond to stimuli. You may see a perceived threat and respond before you even realize you have. While it is still unclear why the brain is so affected by trauma, it was not until the early 90s that research was ramped up to provide better treatment for those who suffer from the effects of trauma. In the past, stigma and lack of resources have kept people from receiving adequate and effective treatment. RRT has been shown to effectively treat PTSD, trauma, and the negative thoughts or behaviors associated with both. Prior to developing RRT, medication was frequently used to treat the symptoms of trauma, however, it failed to address the source of the trauma. While medications can be very beneficial in addition to therapy, it should not be the sole treatment when addressing trauma. Being able to feel painful feelings, address them, and learn from them allows people to be able to move on from the traumatic experience. Specific responses to trauma that RRT can help address include:
- Acting out
- Attention seeking behaviors
- Depression
- Perfectionism or obsessive thoughts
- Decreased self-worth
- Feelings of rage that are difficult to control
- Abuse and neglect
- Anxiety
- Jealousy
- Death of a loved one
- Night terrors
- Distrust in romantic relationships
- Broken heart
- Insomnia
